In order that we all, like Paul, head toward the mark of the high call (Phil 3:14) it is important for us to reflect on the true message of the gospel. Heaven and hell are real and where we spend eternity is our choice! On the Day of Judgment God will not be asking you about your sins. Those have been taken care of by Jesus’ sacrifice for everyone. He is only going to ask you one question: What did you do with my Son Jesus?
We all have to individually face the question: If I died tonight do know with an absolute certainty where I would be?
We are all sinners and as sinners the Bible tells us there is no doubt that short of making Jesus Lord of our life we would spend eternity in hell; separated from God … forever. Hopefully you have made the decision to ask Him to forgive your sins and take over the throne of your life. If not, I suggest that you open your heart and let God speak to you in His quiet and soft voice; His Holy Spirit. If you are reading this and you don’t know where you will spend eternity I would invite you to read the following verses in the Living Translation of God’s Word. He will show you, in His Word that Jesus is — The Way, The truth and The Life (John 14:6).
John 1:3 He created everything there is, nothing exists that he didn’t make.
Romans 3:23 Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal;
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1John 5:11-12 And what is it that God has said? That he has given us eternal life and that this life is in his Son. So whoever has God’s Son has life; whoever does not have his Son, does not have life.
John 3:3 Jesus replied, “With all the earnestness I possess I tell you this: Unless you are born again, you can never get into the Kingdom of God.”
We all are sinners and are therefore separated from God. But God, in His great love for us, provided the way to restore that relationship through His Son Jesus. The truth contained in the scriptures you have just read and the faith in your heart is all that you need to once and for all fill that void in your heart, which only Jesus can fill. We have all tried to fill it with other things and people but the only piece that fits is Jesus.
That small voice that prompted you to come to this site is Jesus knocking at your heart and the decision to respond is yours. If you want to make Jesus your Saviour and the Lord of your life pray the following simple prayer and come to Him, as all of us must … as a child.
Lord Jesus, I am a sinner and there is nothing that I, myself, can do to overcome the sin in my life. I realize that you gave your life for me and died on the cross for all the sin in the world and especially mine. I know that you would have made that sacrifice even if I had been the only one here on earth. You shed your blood and died that I might live. You rose from the dead and are now seated in Heaven at the right hand of God so that I might have eternal life.
Jesus, forgive my sins and come into my heart. Fill me with your Holy Spirit so I can know you. It is impossible for me to change all that is wrong in my life so I now ask you to take charge and help me to become the unique individual you created me to be. Help me to know your love for me and how to love others as you do. Pick me up when I fall and protect me from everything that would try and take your place.
Thank you, Jesus, for saving me and setting me free and for giving me eternal life, beginning right now. Help me to walk with you every day and learn to trust you in all things. Thank you for shedding your blood so that I am washed clean of my sins. Thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit to live inside me and guide me to you every moment of the day and night. Thank you that your Word says that you will “never leave me nor forsake me.” I love you Jesus. Help me to begin walking with you right now … Amen.
In praying this prayer you have opened the door to Jesus and He will not fail you. Everything that He promises in His Word is yours and His Holy Spirit is living in you this very moment. His still small voice will guide you and teach you all things pertaining to living your life here on earth to the fullest. Joy and peace are yours for the asking as a Believer in Christ and His strength fills you. You have just laid the Chief Cornerstone (Jesus) “in His proper place so now let’s begin constructing the foundation. This is a journey that you will find more exciting than anything you have ever done. Listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit while you read and study His Word because there is so much He wants to put in between the lines just for you.
As you begin your new life and adventure as a Believer, listen to what the Apostle Paul had to say to all Believers in his letter to the church at Corinth:
2 Corinthians 5:15 He died for all so that all who live — having received eternal life from him — might live no longer for themselves, to please themselves, but to spend their lives pleasing Christ who died and rose again for them.
It is my prayer for you to enjoy eternal life from this moment on. It’s yours right here and now as you await the return of your bridegroom … the one who paid the price for you … Jesus. Now is the time to draw near to Him and begin to build your faith and trust in His love and Grace for you. Welcome to the family of God.
