Work – Whose Work?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There is a new direction in the works for Walk With God Ministries involving yet another way of delivering the message for His bride that the Lord has placed on my heart (More about that in the weeks to come). In the process there are a number of issues to work through that at this point are a bit confusing and as I am trying to sort them out the work has become a bit of a burden. So, when I read Oswald Chambers note for this morning it was a great reminder of how we are to deal with burdens.

The reminder the Lord gave me this morning was short and right on target. Let me just share how Chambers put it (emphasis mine):

“We ought never bear the burden of sin or of doubt, but there are burdens placed on us by God which He does not intend to lift off, He wants us to roll them back on Him.”

Ps 55:22 Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall. TLB

“If we undertake work for God, and get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility will be overwhelmingly crushing; but if we roll back on God that which He has put upon us, He takes away the sense of responsibility by bringing in the realization of Himself.”

Are you are like me and tend to take up the full responsibility for the burden that God has placed on your own shoulders and dive into  the “work” involved in dealing with the burden? If you are then you know the weariness that comes with that. That’s what Chambers hit me with this morning, However, as always, he has a way of putting things in perspective.

“Roll thy burden upon the Lord… you have been bearing it all; deliberately put one end on the shoulders of God: The government shall be upon His shoulder. Commit to God the burden that He has given you and the burden is lightened by the sense of companionship.”

I just needed to be reminded this morning that God never puts a burden on us and then walks away. It’s just the opposite. We tend to walk away and struggle with that burden instead of giving it back to Him. The Holy Spirit, as usual, painted a picture for me to remind me that I am not alone in my struggles and that He is always there…

Matt 11:29-30 Wear my yoke – for it fits perfectly – and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.” TLB
